Traditional internal blinds, whilst providing protection against the effects of ultra-violet and glare, do not significantly assist in combating heat build up in summer. Indeed, in many cases the problem of heat build up is increased. The suns solar energy passes through the roof and is trapped between the blind and the roof creating a layer of hot air which can act as a radiator in the roof. Other problems associated with internal fabric blinds are dust and dead insects.

Moreover, with continual exposure to the suns solar energy and ultra-violet, deterioration can be rapid with fabric drying out and becoming brittle. Operating chords become stiff which makes opening and closing the blinds difficult. Traditional Slatted or Venetian Blinds are generally not practical for conservatory roofs however, can provide privacy, reduce the effects of UV and reduce glare when used on windows. |
